DVDs outsold VHS in 2001, which is much faster than CDs replaced cassettes. DVD allows much greater data storage than CD, or 4.7 GB (per layer) as compared to 650 MB. Advanced compression techniques are also used, currently MPEG-2 for video and AC-3 for audio. Video requires such an enormous amount of data that it took both the increased capacity and the new compression techniques to put movies on DVD. There are different types, such as single layer / single side, single layer / double side, and dual layer / double side. DVD-R discs are single layer / single side.

DVD looks exponentially better than VHS, and is now within reach of most any client with our new SuperDrive DVD-R burner. So why are you putting your project on VHS? Much like CD-R, our DVD burner allows you to take home a proof of your project on a DVD that will play on nearly every home DVD player or computer with DVD-ROM! We can also make a limited run in-house, or send a DVD-R master to the duplication plant for larger orders. And just like CD, we now offer "turn key" DVD packages that cover everything from the finished master to boxes of shrinkwrapped DVDs.
